The Oculus is the central element of Jewel Changi Airport’s toroidal glass dome — a 12-metre-wide opening from which the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, the Rain Vortex, dramatically cascades down into the Forest Valley.
Passage Projects was responsible for the structural design of the Oculus. Precision engineering was essential to support the permanent flow of water, integrate complex drainage systems, and maintain a seamless interface with the surrounding glass roof.
Described by Safdie Architects as an “extraordinary icon,” the Oculus anchors the spatial experience of Jewel — where nature, structure, and spectacle converge.
