Situated in the heart of Little India, the Indian Heritage Centre blends traditional references with contemporary form. Its distinctive glass façade — inspired by the stepped geometry of a baoli (Indian stepwell) — gives the building its layered expression and strong civic presence.
Passage Projects engineered the façade structure, developing a steel support system for the large-format glass panels. The design balanced clarity and precision with buildability, enabling the façade to express both cultural symbolism and structural restraint.
The project was shortlisted for a World Architecture Festival (WAF) Award, recognising its architectural innovation and cultural contribution to Singapore’s urban landscape.
