A floating ribbon of steel and glass — an experience in itself.
The Jewel Footbridge is a 50-meter-long pedestrian structure suspended within the vast atrium of Jewel at Singapore Changi Airport. More than a circulation path, it is a destination — offering a thrilling experience of walking through air, light, and space.
Passage Projects led the structural design from concept to completion, working closely with Safdie Architects and the client team to realise a solution that balances transparency, elegance, and buildability. A gently cambered steel spine supports a fully glazed floor and enclosure.
Despite its apparent lightness, the bridge overcomes significant challenges: limited structural depth, complex support conditions, strict vibration criteria, and the demand for near-invisibility. Its success lies in making the engineering disappear — allowing the experience to take centre stage.
